At Gilda’s Club Westchester we know that a cancer diagnosis affects not just the individual, but also the entire family. For the past 20 years, Gilda’s Club Westchester has offered FREE emotional and social support to thousands of individuals impacted by cancer throughout Westchester, Rockland and lower Fairfield counties. Gilda’s Club Westchester offers a welcoming community where everyone living with cancer - men, women, children and teens, their families and friends – can come for support and connection.
Although we are offering most of our programming virtually at this time, our home base is our clubhouse in White Plains, which offers a warm, comfortable, welcoming environment designed to encourage all who enter our red doors feel at home. Social and emotional support, including short-term individual and family counseling and support groups, is available to address the feelings and impact associated with a cancer diagnosis. Resources to help navigate the cancer journey, such as a Cancer Support Hotline, and referrals to resources within the cancer community are integral to our support services. A wide variety of educational programs, including topics relating to cancer, survivorship, caregiving, and grief, are offered each month. Many healthy lifestyle programs, including mind-body and exercise classes, expressive arts workshops, and healthy living programs fill our calendar. Opportunities for social interaction and networking, including a lively book discussion group and friendly conversation over coffee, offer informal ways to connect.
Gilda’s Club Westchester also offers the area’s only ongoing support for children and teens who are living a life affected by cancer – their own diagnosis, that of a loved one, or the loss of a loved one - through age-appropriate support groups, individual counseling sessions, social events, camps and workshops. The Children, Teens and Families Program is designed to be a place for children and teens to learn, have fun, care and share, while being supported by our professional staff and trained volunteers.
